Do you like to read? In this blog we are going to look at how to create a simple reading tracker in your Bullet Journal. I have also put a list together of some of my top books for 2021 which I can’t wait to share with you.
What are you reading this year?
For me a new year means a new reading list! Of course some books will only be released this year and so I slot those in along the way. Others though are books that I didn’t get to last year or I just have always wanted to read! This year I am focusing on business books and what I like call ‘holiday reads’. I alternate between a business book/life advice book and my easy holidays reads. Here are some ‘ still to read books’ I have next to my bed –
- Glasgow Kiss By Sophie Gravia
- Pretending By Holly Bourne
- Good Life, Good Vibes By Vex King
I would love to know what you are reading this year, write some books in the comments and I will be sure to add them to my list!
Quotes about reading
Before we dive into creating a reading tracker, I thought I would share some of my favourite reading quotes. I created cover pages around these quotes before. I like to create a cover page before my reading list spread. I find it inspires me to keep reading because just like Bullet Journaling, reading is a habit.
How to create a reading list in your bullet journal.
This is my reading list I created in my travel themed Bullet Journal. I keep my list manageable by selecting two or three books a month. My layout allows me to easily look ahead and prepare by buying my books early. I like physical books but you may have a handy kindle that you can purchase books on!
To create this spread:
- Start with a pencil.
- Draw all of the suitcases and space them equally apart (using a ruler).
- The draw the book up the top.
- Finally add in all of the letters by pencil.
- Once you are happy with how it is draw over everything with a black waterproof pen.
- Start shading in using your watercolours, using the bright colours first like red.
- Once this is all dry add in the shading using grey watercolours. Can you spot my shading around the sides of the suitcases and around the book. Shading helps to add depth to your doodles.
